Tammy Fortin

Tammy Fortin is a writer and musician who has been lucky enough to work at four incredible art museums. This has prompted her to incorporate elements of visual culture into her writing, and to seek out interdiscplinary connections wherever they might be hiding. She established a writing residency at the Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University in 2012 that is ongoing, and has written film, music, and art reviews for the publications Kitchen Sink, Plazm, Wig, Lonely Planet, the Broad Art Museum at MSU blog, BroadBand, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art blog Open Space, among others. She has just finished a novel called A Modern Champion of the World and is currently working on a book of short stories called The Creep. She enjoys playing all kinds of music, most recently in the band Excuses for Skipping, in which she plays the electric guitar, and formerly, in the Lansing Unionized Vaudeville Spectacle, where she played the suitcase, snare drum, pots and pans and three tequila bottles as part of the percussion section.
