Lynne McCabe
Lynne McCabe is a multi- disciplinary artist whose interactive works focus on a process-led and collaborative practice, creating work that is a product of social engagement & negotiation. She recently received her MFA in Social Practice from California College of the Arts and is the founder of She Works Flexible Now, which is centered in her home in Berkeley, CA. She Works Flexible Now houses a variety of artistic endeavors, from child-rearing to occasional performances, to project research and development. It also is home to a library, an exhibition and performance space, and a fireside discussion forum.
Originally from Scotland, McCabe received her B.A with honors from The Glasgow School of Art in 1999. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently as part of the 53rd Venice Biennale, and was a recipient of a 2008 Artadia Award. When asked, her son and frequent collaborator describes her as 61 years old, 8ft tall and more like Batgirl than any other cartoon character.
