Marissa Leshnov is a social documentary photographer based in Oakland, California. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, California Sunday, and The New Yorker, among others, and she has exhibited in galleries in the United States and internationally. Thematically, her work focuses on climate justice, outdoor access, culture and identity, and the disproportionate impacts of policies and policing on marginalized communities. She views her camera as a tool for activating and informing positive change.
