JoAnn Low, born in San Francisco, attended the California School of Fine Arts in the mid 1950s, and took up painting, studying under Elmer Bischoff and Nathan Oliveira among others. Her first show was at the legendary 6 Gallery, with the sculptor Manuel Neri. Today she lives in Watsonville.
