Daniel Phil Gonzales

One of the co-founders of Asian American Studies and the School (now College) of Ethnic Studies at SFSU, San Francisco-born Daniel Phil Gonzales began as a co-lecturer in Asian American Studies in 1970. With a BA in International Relations/Political Science at SFSU and a Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of Law, he has continuously taught, researched, written, recorded educational video, and been historical advisor to several films and television programs about Filipino American history, Asian Americans, and American legal, political, and social processes, and Philippine/US relations. He resides in San Francisco with Barbara Linda Palaby, his spouse of forty-three years, and sons Arel and Balentin.
