Austin Leong

Austin Leong grew up in Anaheim, California, and eventually relocated to his father’s hometown of San Francisco. Since obtaining his BA in Sociology from San Francisco State University, Austin continues to make photographic work exploring relationships between individuals and the daily interactions made within their environment. In his work, he has become particularly drawn to capturing bizarre or transient moments that are often overlooked — a recurring theme that is apparent in his images. Working primarily in black-and-white, much of Austin’s work is built around his darkroom practice in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco.
