If you’re reading this, it means we’ve resumed publication, and the lovely vacation mirage above, designed by Bosco Hernández, is a thing of the past. Summer is over.

But! Consolations await: the ongoing evolution of Open Space continues with revamped features, which you’ll find throughout the site, and the fourth issue of our magazine will debut in two weeks. On September 14th, a week from Wednesday, we are partnering with CounterPulse and Jess Curtis/Gravity to present the Bay Area premiere of Bulgarian choreographer and performer Ivo Dimchev; we hope you’ll join us at CounterPulse for a free drink, a selection of films curated by arts writer Rob Avila, and then Dimchev — whose politically charged, fiercely exacting work has made him one of the most compelling artists working in performance today. You can read up on him in this interview with artist, writer and Open Space contributor Bean Gilsdorf.

And before all that… we wanted to take a moment to introduce you to our three newest columnists in residence: writer, artist, and curator D. Scot Miller; poet Amanda Nadelberg; and Leyya Tawil, whose performance scores span dance and music practices. Over the next four months, these three individuals will publish on a rotating basis; what they choose to address, and how, is up to them. And once their official tenure is over, they will retain lifelong publishing rights, joining an ever-growing cohort of alumni columnists. We’re intensely proud of this program, which was envisioned and built by our singular founding editor, Suzanne Stein, and we look forward to seeing where Amanda, D. Scot, and Leyya will take us.
