Artist Ishan Clemenco revisits two experiences on one day in 1999 that, for him, encapsulated a shift in the San Francisco art world: attending an open house at the California College of the Arts’ then-new Montgomery campus, and watching a downtown art dealer display his inventory online.
Organized by The Editors
The Stein family's Saturday salons in their Paris apartments were the crucible of avant-garde art and writing of the period. In keeping with the spirit of those informal gatherings, our guests — artists, writers, filmmakers, performers, and others — entertained us with their personal recollections of Bay Area avant-garde histories. Presented in conjunction with The Steins Collect, and co-organized with Margaret Tedesco.
Compilations and unfurling sequences of contributions – some from our archive, some freshly assembled.
