Comedian, writer, and musician George Chen remembers the days around Y2K, when he was working at a dot-com and booking local shows for bands like Lightning Bolt. He says that before everything was on the Internet, “finding out about these bands was like a part-time job.”
Organized by The Editors
The Stein family's Saturday salons in their Paris apartments were the crucible of avant-garde art and writing of the period. In keeping with the spirit of those informal gatherings, our guests — artists, writers, filmmakers, performers, and others — entertained us with their personal recollections of Bay Area avant-garde histories. Presented in conjunction with The Steins Collect, and co-organized with Margaret Tedesco.
Compilations and unfurling sequences of contributions – some from our archive, some freshly assembled.
