The More Things Change, which opens today, offers a selective look at contemporary art made in the last 10 years, drawing on a range of works from the museum’s collection to present a thematic and psychological portrait of the decade. Some common threads emerge: fragmentation, fragility, entropy, metamorphosis, reconfiguration — and the exhibition itself will change periodically during its course, with a varying array of works on view at any one time. The More Things Change is also an unusual or even unprecedented collaboration, as all five curatorial departments (Architecture and Design, Education and Public Programs, Media Arts, Painting and Sculpture, and Photography) have worked together to produce the exhibition. Over the course of the year we’ll be presenting texts from each of the 10 participating curators, as well as a trio of special related essay commissions, here on Open Space. You can watch for the callout graphic below, signaling new posts, or follow the series at this link.

  • I’ll be looking forward to that. I really like the wall installation and the piece by Pae White.

  • Rudolf Frieling says:

The list is much longer than what is currently on view. Thus “things change” … we’ll rotate a few times but wanted to give you all an idea of what the overall scope is.

  • I thought that I saw a list for a piece for Julie Merhtu in the wall text but I didn’t see one installed.
