Bill Berkson

Born in New York in 1939, poet and critic Bill berkson is professor emeritus at the San Francisco Art Institute, a contributing editor for artcritical.com and a corresponding editor for Art in America. His most recent books include Expect Delays, Invisible Oligarchs: Russia Notebook January-June 2006 Before & After, and Amsterdam Souvenirs (with Joanne Kyger). A previous collection of poems, Portrait and Dream, won the Balcones Prize for Best Poetry Book in 2010. His criticism has been collected in The Sweet Singer of Modernism, For the Ordinary Artist, and Sudden Address. An autobiographical miscellany called Since When: Memoirs in Pieces is slated to appear from Coffee House Press in fall 2017. He now divides his time between San Francisco and New York.
