Alexandra Pappas

Alexandra Pappas holds a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2004), and taught at the Universities of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Arkansas before taking her current position as Raoul Bertrand Chair in Classics at San Francisco State University in 2012. She has been a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania (2005-6) and a Junior Fellow at Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies (2011-12). Her teaching and research center on ancient Greek words and images and how they make meaning together. She especially loves exploring these ideas with her students. She also makes sure to sit quietly every day.
